If you have an external or internal drive shows up in Disk Management as RAW and it's not accessible from My Computer, while that drive was fine on another system.

To fix this problem here is what you need to do:

Go into the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management then Disk Management.
Right click the drive, select change drive letters and path, and assign a letter. Confirm the operation.
Once this is done it will show up as NTFS again. From My Computer then you'll be able to access this drive again.

Another way of doing the above with the same result:

Right Click on My Computer's icon, select Manage.
Click on Disk Management, find the drive that shows up as RAW on the right window, right click on it and choose assign a drive letter. Give one available drive letter from the pull down list. Confirm the operation.
Once this is done it will show up as NTFS again. From My Computer then you'll be able to access this drive again.

Brilliant Quick Fix Blair (203.214.101.xxx) 14:26:25 22-11-2008 This works a treat and saved me hours of pain. Since i installed a Network Attached HDD I have had this issue between all my small 2 1/2 caddies. This fixes it. Thanks heaps Quote 0   0
