Your PC sounds like working, but you don't see anything on your screen? No POST: Nothing shows up on your screen as soon as you power on the system and monitor.
No BOOT: You see some text message on your screen where we call it BIOS POST. After this post the system suppose to BOOT to your operating system or any bootable device attached.

Some steps to troubleshoot NO POST are:

  • If you moved the system, monitor, or add new hardware into the system then check for connections or reverse the task.
  • Did you hear any beep sound at all when you power on the system. Did the system beep at all before?
If yes then common beep sounds are:
    BEEP CODE MEANING POSSIBLE CAUSE
1 Short single beep Normal POST System is ok
1 Long, 2 Short Video adapter failure Bad video adapter or memory
1 Long, 3 Short Video adapter failure Bad video adapter or memory
Repeating (Endless loop) Memory error Bad memory or bad connection
Repeating High, Low beeps CPU failure Bad processor
  • Check if it responds to your keyboard, i.e. pressing Num Lock, Caps Lock or Ctrl - Alt - Del.
If yes then it could be your graphic adapter, cable or monitor problem.
Try a different monitor, or connect yours to a different known working system.
  • You may have to open the system. If you have more than 1 stick of RAM, test one at a time by installing it on the slot next to CPU (refer to motherboard manual, as some motherboard requires minimum of 2 slots to work)
  • If you're over-clocking or tweaking BIOS setting, then you have to reset the CMOS (refer to motherboard manual on how to reset CMOS).
